Dr Rod Irwin BVSc MVS

Rod has been working at Warragul Veterinary Clinic and Devoted Vets since 1982. He is now owner and director of the clinic and still loves working with the animals of the district, their owners, and the clinic team. Rod completed a Masters degree in dairy medicine in 1998, but enjoys working with all species of animals.

He is married to Celia, and has three children, three step children, and two golden retrievers - Poppy and Bollie!

He enjoys walking, travelling, the results of gardening, and if time permits, the odd day skiing very fast!


 

Dr Matthew Jaques BVSc IVAS Cert

Matt graduated from Melbourne University in 1994, and has since worked in mixed practice in England, Wales and in Gippsland. Matt has developed an interest in accupuncture and avian medicine.

Matt is married to Sherri and together they have three children. They also have Rosie the Cavalier and Hudson the Burmese cat.

In his spare time Matt appreciates good coffee.


 

Dr Sherri Jaques BVSc MVSc

Sherri graduated from Melbourne University in 1995 and worked in mixed practice in Tasmania, Gippsland, England and Wales. As an Australian Veterinary Reserve Vet she was involved in the equine influenza outbreak in Australia and the foot and mouth outbreak in the UK. Sherri has completed a Masters degree in Veterinary Science studying cattle reproduction and is currently undertaking a membership in small animal surgery. 

Sherri’s special interests in the clinic involve surgery, immune mediated disease, internal medicine and chemotherapy/oncology.

Sherri is married to Matt and together they have three children. They also have Rosie the Cavalier and Hudson the Burmese cat.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, running, cycling, swimming and she also enjoys sewing. 


Dr Bridie Stammers BVSc MVS MANZCVS

Bridie worked in the Goulburn Valley in dairy practice for three years before moving to Gippsland and has been in mixed practice for the last ten years. She has a Masters in small animal practice and membership of Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal surgery. Bridie has a special interest in surgery and orthopaedics.

Bridie lives with her husband on a dairy farm with Tiny the Great Dane, Stan the kelpie, Henry the goat and four cats Didgy, Dukes, Camille and Pepsi.

Support Staff

Jessica Steele QVN – Veterinary Nurse

Jessica studied a Bachelor of animal science and is a qualified Veterinary nurse. She has worked with Devoted Vets for 8 years. She has an interest in natural medicine and likes to help keep the clinic running smoothly.

Jessica lives with her two cats Fred & Festa both rescue cats from Devoted Vets. She enjoys travelling, yoga and outdoor activities in her spare time.


 

Grace Answerth QVN – Veterinary Nurse

Grace is a qualified Veterinary nurse and has worked at the clinic for over 6 years. She has a special interest in wildlife.

She has Frankie the miniature Daschund, Cavaliers, a Cavoodle and two cats. Grace enjoys travelling and outdoor activities in her spare time.


 

Kate Jackson QVN – Veterinary Nurse

Kate is a qualified veterinary nurse and has worked at the clinic for 5 years. Kate has a special interest in dog training and is currently undertaking further study in this area. She is one half of our Puppy preschool team.

Kate lives with her partner Marc, her dog Oxford and her two cats Raisins and Meyurt who are all Devoted Vets rescues.


 

Grace Holt – Veterinary Nurse

Grace is currently completing her certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She has been working with us for 4 years. Grace has a special interest in horses and likes to compete in eventing with her thoroughbred Sam.

Grace lives with her partner Cameron and their two Puggles, Murphy & Zara the rescue dog.


Jessica Fernance – Groomer

Jessica has been working with animals for around 11years, she worked in a boarding kennels training as a groomer under the guidance of a well known breeder and show judge. Jessica also has a Certificate III in animal companionship.

Jessica is the ultimate pet pamperer making sure all of our grooming clients are well looked after.

She has 2 elderly cats and an American Staffy called Rogue.


 

Raelene Lees – Administration

Raelene has many years experience in finance and administration. She has been working with the clinic part-time for 4 years. She loves the variety of her job.

Raelene lives with her husband Garry, they have two adult children and dogs Chuck the Labrador and Syd (A Devoted Vets rescue dog).


Jo Fontana – Dog Trainer

Jo has been a qualified dog trainer since 2001 when she graduated from Alpha canine group. She has been running dog training classes and private lessons in the Gippsland area for the past 16 years. She has been part of our puppy preschool team for the past 7 years.

Jo has a particular interest in canine behavioral problem solving and making the bond between dogs and their owners stronger to make a happy home.

Jo lives with her three dogs Fraser, Bandit & Bingo and her cat named Linguine (A Devoted Vets Rescue) who thinks he too, is a dog.
